POST A: MAINTENANCE MANAGER (1 POSITION) REF: ZPCHO 09/01/22
THE POSITION
This is a senior position reporting to the General Manager Hwange Power Station. The key challenge in this position is the ability to achieve maximum sustainable generation and plant availability through effective plant maintenance programs, plant upgrading and plant rehabilitation projects.
Qualifications and Experience
- 5 O’levels including Mathematics and English.
- A degree in Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering or any relevant Degree
- A Post Graduate qualification such as an MBL/MBA or equivalent is an added advantage.
- Full membership of a recognised professional institution.
- 8 years relevant experience in a similar environment of which 6 years should be at senior level.
Key Performance Areas
- Comes up with strategies to ensure high availability of the generation plant.
- Ensures implementation of Maintenance routines.
- Liaises with Factories Inspectors and Equipment Manufactures for safety of plant and personnel.
- Prepares specifications for maintenance service and spare contracts and carries out adjudication of tenders.
- Monitors forced outage factor in order to ensure that it is contained within the planned maintenance program.
- Institutes condition monitoring and condition based maintenance on key plant equipment.
- Ensures ownership by reviewing and implementing quality assurance programs for high impact plant and maintenance.
- Ensures audit compliance to maintenance best practise and action.
- Supervises and monitors performance of service contractors.
- Prepares departmental budget that ensures effective cost control.
